“All we need is to continue to speak the truth fearlessly, and we shall add to our number those who will turn the scale to the side of equal and full justice in all things.”
— Lucy Stone

Stone & Feather Press publishes stories that may otherwise be forgotten. We advance human, civil, and environmental rights by promoting justice
through powerful storytelling.
"Stone" is in honor of pioneering women's rights activist Lucy Stone whose story was nearly erased from history. Stone dared to suggest that women enjoy the same advantages and protections afforded to men. She was an early abolitionist and fought to defend the rights of all people as she advocated for women's suffrage. She was the first woman from Massachusetts to earn a Bachelor's Degree and the first to keep her own name in marriage.
Those who came after her in the Women's Movement attempted to remove her legacy - until various authors revived the truth of her contributions.

"Feather" is for the time when people wrote with a feather quill pen, and writing was considered dangerous. We promote the sharing of ideas that challenge a status quo and celebrate writers who dare to suggest that things could be better for all of us. The feather is a symbol of the human reliance on the natural world and a reminder of our interconnectedness.
